God Rays (Junior Film) Environment Design

This post contains screenshots from (as well as a link to) my Junior film, God Rays. This project marked my first venture into environment design. I had fun learning Unreal Engine 4 on my own so that I could take advantage of Quixel's Megascan assets. I also enjoyed discovering speed tree in order to make models that fit the unique styles of my environments. Looking back, there are a few things I would change about these various levels; however, I think this was a fun and effective first step into Unreal Engine that helped me learn the foundations of environment design!

A render from the fourth environment (my favorite one!) One challenge with this level was finding ways to ensure that the flowers properly floated on top of the water, since the river was created by adding a dynamic water material on top of a plane.

A render from the second environment displaying an idyllic orchard. One thing I would change about this piece is adding more variance in the tree models I created!

A render from the first environment displaying a path into the forest. One thing I would change would be how the fog blends in the background so that the transition is smoother!
